Korea University Sejong Campus announced that it has been allocated the highest project funding among the five universities selected to implement the Sejong Regional Innovation System for Education (RISE) initiative, led by Sejong City.
The selection was based on the university's strategic and systematic project plan, which was highly rated for its rational goal setting grounded in a thorough analysis of local conditions, the derivation of a specialization strategy reflecting institutional capabilities, and strong alignment with key national policy directions.
Under the RISE initiative, Korea University Sejong Campus has been designated the lead university in three of the six strategic future industries identified by Sejong City: future mobility, information security, and quantum technologies. Furthermore, the university was selected to participate in all five-unit projects being promoted by the city.
Notably, the university was named the lead institution in every major subproject requiring a coordinating university, including establishing an integrated system and infrastructure at the Handuri Campus. promoting Korean language and culture through a cultural city initiative, supporting the development of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry to address regional challenges; and enhancing Korean cultural adaptation for international students. These assignments position Korea University Sejong Campus as a main initiative of the Sejong RISE program.

Through the RISE program, Korea University Sejong Campus plans to establish an integrated innovation system encompassing human resource development for future industries, collaborative research among universities, industries, and research institutes, lifelong education, and regional problem-solving. These efforts aim to foster mutual growth between the university and the surrounding community while leading in future strategic sectors.
